This is how to set up a test environment in Odoo

Odoo is packed with modules that speed up your business process. However, it's not obvious to just try them out in your version. Fortunately, there is a solution for that. Through a test environment, you have the freedom to integrate modules and get an idea of how the module works in no time. You can use the demo environment, which Odoo provides for free, at https://runbot.odoo.com/

Note that this allows for a short test, not a long-term test. When newer updates are available, the old environment is removed. For more extensive testing phases, use the so-called "staging" with the help of an Odoo partner. You can read more about that at the bottom of this blog.

A realistic testing environment

To make the environment as realistic as possible, you can also choose the Odoo version. This will give you an idea of what it will look like in your "live" version. In addition, you work with a demo database so there is also data to work with.

Once you have chosen your version, you will be taken to a blank Odoo portal. To access the test environment in Odoo, use a simple username and a very "secure" password:

A large-scale testing phase

Big plans with Odoo? SoHo Manager helps you move forward quickly with the help of a Proof of Concept. When integrating Odoo, we talk about the live version and the staging version.

The Staging version allows us to test your requirements for a longer period of time before integrating it into your current Odoo environment. This way you can be sure of the result and errors will be taken out in advance.
